We are thrilled to announce the inaugural class of the Cox Enterprises Social Impact Accelerator powered by Techstars. We kicked off this week and are looking forward to three months of awesomeness, capped off by Demo Day. When our team formed in July 2019, we hit the ground running in search of companies making a positive impact on underrepresented groups, underserved communities, and environmental sustainability. Throughout our selection process we attracted companies across six continents, 29 countries, 23 states, and 45 U.S. cities.
More than 40% of applicants were people of color, and approximately 40% came from female founders, resulting in nearly 65% of applications coming from minority founding teams. This diverse set of applicants addressed some of society’s most pressing issues, including: STEM Education for underserved students, access to healthcare, workplace diversity, accessibility, community support/engagement, financial literacy, college readiness, and health and wellness.
Over the next three months, our goal is to support and grow the 10 incredible companies selected to help them succeed and make a positive impact. The companies will receive mentorship from subject matter experts, experienced entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and many more. Techstars is the worldwide network that helps entrepreneurs succeed, and our strong partners and mentors help make this happen.
I would like to thank our mentors, sponsors and partners in advance for their generous support. Special thanks to theCox Enterprises team for their true commitment to the success of our partnership, the city of Atlanta, and the many Techstars founders they have supported over the last four years.
